Do you think asking a war veteran to share some of their stories could come off as rude?,

I have always wanted to meet a veteran willing to share their stories, to me it's very interesting to hear about what they went through. However I'm usually a bit hesitant to ask them to do that as I don't know if they'll rather keep those memories to themselves. What do you think?

It depends on how you ask and what they're willing to share. I'll talk to you all day about all the dumb shit my buddies and I did when we had down time, but actual combat experiences, not so much.
