Well, sometimes when we find ourselves getting upset, especially over something s*lly, we have to think, "Is this really worth the mental energy?"

Normally the answer is "No"

@Punches Its still just kinda muscle memory at this point. When someone has been in your life for years, they tend to pop up in everyday things. He lived here too, so its hard not to notice.

@Kuronekko Oh shoot I didn't realize at first what you were talking about.

Yeah when we live with someone, it can be rough. I say give it a couple more weeks or less and he will be a distant memory.

@Punches I plan to redecorate, I need to make it my own space again.

@Kuronekko Just don't let him back in when he comes crawling back. Cause you KNOW eventually he probably will.

@Punches Hes already tried that a few times. Ive refused to do anything more than communicate about practical matters over text. Ive muted him so that I can deal with that on my terms. Hes manipulative so Im aware of his tactics.

@Kuronekko He sounds like a real winner.

Every time I read or hear about a failed relationship, it makes me that much more thankful I haven't been in one since 2019.

I think at our age (over 40), we are trying to live in relative peace. The last thing we need is for some "lover" to come into our lives, wreck EVERYthing, then just walk out like nothing happened.
Parasites do that. Move in, destroy, then leave. And sometimes try to worm their way back in.

Now with the redecorating - go big if you can. Whatever you can swing. Fresh paint, new decor, new furniture, rearrangements, etc. Feel like a brand new home. :D
