Social media creates just enough stimulation to simulate reality.

You ask questions. You respond. You get reactions.

You share just enough so that you feel real and wait for someone to notice.

And sadly this is more than I can get IRL.

I used to think how great it was to have friends from all over the world, connecting, relating, learning and sharing. But I don't know what we're sharing anymore. Then the algorithms control what we see and when we are seen.

People I could emphasize with are treating me like trash. People who are hurting insistent on hurting others. People pretending.

Even IRL people have transitioned to living life like they're being viewed and liked for their performance.

It's all too easy.

This is the degradation of humanity. We are no longer unique no matter how much we tell ourselves we are. We're consumers. Plagiarists.

There are definitely people that don't fit that mold around and I'm happy to know them. I'm just sick of swimming through an ocean of fake greedy grabbing hands so I'm not alone.

It's time to put the device down and just be alone.

It's not giving up on the good, I'm rejecting the swarm of hate that feeds itself by spreading screen to screen.

Consumption without substance.

Sad, I am sorry this has been your experience. Not because I contributed, but because we probably all have in some small manner.
