Why do men I barely knew 10+ years ago send me friend/follow requests, cancel them, then re-send them?

There are two guys who have done this to me, one has been doing it for awhile, but has now stopped (for the time being, anyway).

I knew both in high school, and I was cordial with one, but it was the usual small talk. I was never friends with and didn't talk to the second one, and he had a reputation for being a player. I haven't seen or spoken to either of these people in 10+ years.

Anyway, over a decade after high school, I've gotten friend/follow requests from both. The first will send one, cancel it, then re-send it, and that goes off and on. The second recently sent one, then canceled it a day or two later.

I just find it weird. Is there a reason why someone would do this?

Memories of those days gone by. They likely thought you were hot back then, kinda had a crush on you, but too shy to tell you. I remember a few from highschool I was drooling over, but never asked them out, or had any clue how to even do that. hah
If I could only go back in time.. but then present day would change, and might not be for the better, so maybe it is best to let sleeping dogs lie (lay?).
