What a great idea

If you have a power outage. Fill washer with ice and put in the stuff you want to keep frozen/cold in

Unfortunately, does not work so well with a front loader ☹

Here is a tip that prepares you for a power outage...

Fill containers with water and freeze, then make room in your freezer and store them there. When the power goes out, your freezer becomes an ice chest which will keep frozen items from defrosting, or you can move some of them to the fridge to help keep it cool.

I use washed out milk containers and it can extend the life of frozen and fresh foodstuff for a couple of days.

I could just put the ice in my cooler

Have front load machines

@pdockal oh that wouldnt be as good then lol. i suppose you could use the bathtub if you have one or a big bucket

@Penny

Keep units closed as much as possible and they will stay cold hopefully long enough

My utility usually provides dry ice to put into units if the power is out too long

Good idea . lots of people without power around here .
If you go camping and have a cooler, wouldn't that make much more sense?

@thewindupbirdchronicles IF you have a cooler
@Penny I'm more likely to have a cooler than a washing machine. 🤨

interesting - and the melted ice won't drip like it would in the fridge

I have an ice chest that will do just fine.

That's really nice, but where are you going to get the ice from. No places were open during the storm and would you even risk your own safety driving out to try finding ice?
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Penny That's a fabulous idea. 🙂

@thewindupbirdchronicles Being next to the store is awesome! 🙂 But, if you lost power did the store have power and were they even open?
@Musicman cash is king, remember and this was 2003?
