How Many Accounts Does Some People Have?

Or do they just periodically change their username?

Geez. I’ve seen the same woman with at least 4 different usernames.

Nothing weird about changing usernames and profile pics, those things get boring after a while. 🤷‍♀️

@Nightwings Ok. Just wondering. I didn’t know you could change your username.
@Nightwings Changing is different from having multiple active IDs.

@SomeMichGuy He said he didn't know if it's because they have multiple accounts or just change profile pics or usernames. 🤷‍♀️
@Nightwings Yes, and then says the same person had at least 4 usernames...which could break either way.

But my point stands: simply changing the name on a given acct isn't the same as running multiple accts at the same time.

@Nightwings Changing your id & pic are like changing your hair, etc., and, while they change your identifier for (new?) photos, etc., I don't think that it resets being followed by others.

So there's a continuity of the identity in that sense.

But if someone is running 4 or more different IDs...that doesn't have the same effect. And besides beingba lot of work, it seems pretty crazy, though I've seen ppl post on one ID and switch and answer themselves on another, publicly talking to themselves.

To what end? I could see having a bland id to monitor what happens with people who block you, people you blocked... But pretending to be a teen, or the opposite sex, etc., starts to sound problematic--is the "teen" trying to groom actual teens, try to collect illegal pics, what? Is the faux female trying to dupe straight guys or lesbians?

Maybe there should be a way to identify one's primary identity on the profile...

@SomeMichGuy They could force "this user was also known as X, Y, and Z" but most people would hate that. Even on websites which don't allow users to change usernames, they can always delete their accounts and start anew, should they really want to. Fake identities are just a part of the nature of the internet.

Fake identities are just a part of the nature of the internet.

Now...on some platforms.

It's also true that lots of websites are bereft of information...now.

Whether or not that's desirable or the way it ought to be is a different question.

@SomeMichGuy If people found the alternative more desirable, you would see that reflected in the policies of popular websites already. You could always make your own social netoworking site with those policies, but I doubt that many beautiful women will join. 😅
@Nightwings If all social websites required actual verification, it would be safer for all of us and cut the foreign agent bs.

Beautiful women who show their faces are no longer anonymous.
