Do you use LinkedIn?

I feel like it shouldn't be that easy to get that much info on a person just by the click of a button.

*You can see where a person works
*What they do there,
*How long they've worked there.
*Where they went to school,
*Their qualifications.
*People they know and are in contact with.

I feel like in the working world, that type of info can be dangerous.
Not everyone wants the best for you.
Not everyone wants good things to come your way.

I can only imagine some people get passed up for jobs because they are buddies with someone that the hiring person or program manager doesn't like doesn't like etc.

I can also imagine that someone that doesn't like you could start a rumor and send it to your manager or colleagues.

I use LinkedIn to ask questions and get information about other areas of work.
I use it to find out about organizations and things that I wouldn't otherwise know.

I do not keep my work history updated. It's always several years off/old.

That was a very immature post.
It's a professional forum not a social media platform.

@Royricky09 that doesn't mean people won't misuse the information that is posted to the site.

@Royricky09 Actually his comment is very relevant. Linkedin could be used to gather information about someone, just like Facebook. It is an information gathering tool and nothing else. Nothing "professional" about it.
@JamesBugman you must be joking.
You are never required to add anything that you do not want.
I've been in the industry for 20 years.
