Has this happened to anyone before??

I was talking with someone but left to get something. When I came back, I turned my phone on it said I had 7 new people that messaged me. I looked at 2 but then I went back to talking with the person from before. Then I went back to see the message I hadn't read but they are gone now. All of them. And it doesn't show that I had any.
