1. TikTok collects sensitive data about users even when they don’t save or share content. If you take a photo of a document or a place that has sensitive information and store it on your cellphone. Even if you don't conscientiously share it with TikTok, the app has access to it.
TikTok also has access to:
2. The entire contents of every message you send through the app since messages are not encrypted.
3. Your country location, internet address and type of device you are using.
With some permissions it also captures:
4. Your exact location.
5. Your phone’s contacts and other social network connections.
6. Your age and phone number
7. Payment information.
8. TikTok also uses technical measures to encode its activity. This means that some of what it does is hidden from external researchers.
9. Absence of two-factor authentication creates a possible security issue as it can lead to phishing or ransomware attacks, among other threats.
10. Additionally, TikTok’s parent company is located in China. Companies in China may be compelled to share data they have with the Chinese government.
India banned TikTok on June 29, 2020 due to privacy of people and national security issues. But an internal tool reviewed by Forbes showed that ByteDance and TikTok employees can still mine some of their most sensitive data. One employee called it “NSA-To-Go.”

@ABCDEF7 there are other apps that do it too. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong I’m just saying there are a lot of other apps that do this exact same thing, so why did they single out tick-tock just out of curiosity?
