Rudeness on the Internet

It seems like wherever you go on the internet the toxicity remains consistent.

I'm thinking there came a time when people started to think it was cool to just let their children "grow up" rather than actually raise them. Problem: they never grew up, nor do their children in turn, and so on. No manners. The selfish brats behave like selfish brats online too.

@PhilDeep I find this interesting.

The truth is....

The children today are more parented than they ever have been. (Heard the term helicopter parent? It stems from this very fact that I am sharing with you) Generation X grew up alone..feeding themselves and taking care of their younger siblings while their parents were working all day.

At one point my mother had two jobs and was gone all day and half the night.

My kids don't get left home for endless hours. I know what they are doing. Where they are and who they are with. I know because I was a teen once with zero oversight...

@JaggedLittlePill Well this gives me hope then, thanks for sharing :)

@PhilDeep It does seem like there's less of an emphasis on manners and morality in the culture overall compared to previous generations.

@PhilDeep
they never grew up, nor do their children in turn, and so on. No manners. The selfish brats behave like selfish brats online too.
I agree. I see it consistently with some middle aged or older people. Maybe it's emotional maturity they lack.
