Do You Ever Look Back....

On conversations here (that is of course if you have access to old ones) in your PM'S and think, wow that was interesting conversation! I miss those chats! I was looking at one just now from 5 years ago and it was really good. I have no idea if he is still here or perhaps under another nickname. I don't even know why the conversation ended. Likely someone became more interesting than me. It was genuine conversation with a good back and forth flow. I don't know if those kind even happen here anymore, or if this place has taken on a more Instagram style communication. I think I'm to old school. I go way back to the early 2000's where the internet had opened the world up and there seemed to be so many more people willing to really engage with you. A couple of those people I'm still in contact with today.
That's it, my random thought for the day.

There are a few people I have had interesting converstations with for more than a decade, but as you noted, that seems to be happening less and less as more superficial conversations tend to dominate discourse. That's a net loss for all of us, in my opinion.

@windinhishair Absolutely and thank you for commenting. It's a definite trend that as I have been online my communications with people have decreased over time. It's as if no one can pay attention long enough anymore or something.

@ravenwind43 Thats it exactly--no one wants to invest any significant time in speaking to others. And as a result, people have trouble connecting with others and forming meaningful relationships. It goes way beyond just talking to someone online--it is a symptom of a much larger societal problem.

@windinhishair Yes spot on. Society in general has become "immediate gratification" minded. Nothing is worth building or waiting for. You either have it NOW or move on to anything else that gets you NOW.
