I don't believe Elon Musk really wants to buy Twitter. I think he realizes he offered FAR too much (like $10 or $20 BILLION too much) and has been trying to wriggle out of his purchase & sale agreement ever since.

Yes, Elon tried to drop the court case and said he'd go ahead and buy, but I think that's just another delaying tactic. I believe the purchase & sale agreement says Musk has to pay $1 billion to Twitter if he doesn't close his offer by the agreed date. I think Musk is now realizing that that $1 billion loss is his cheapest exit. I think if Twitter can get him into court they can squeeze a few more billion out of him for reneging on his offer, securities fraud, whatever.

Very rich men can make very expensive mistakes; break out the popcorn!!

P.S. I think Kanye's handlers will find a way to break that agreement too.
@ElwoodBlues i needed you the other day webs!
@ElwoodBlues Twitter can force Musk to buy it at the agreed price. It’s a possibility.
@LeopoldBloom It's a possibility, true. And I know nothing about chancery court, but this is what I read:

Given that Musk seems to have violated his contract, the crucial questions are now what the Delaware Court of Chancery will do about it, and how Twitter’s legal team will anticipate those actions. The court may order Musk to buy Twitter at the agreed-upon price — via a “specific performance” clause in the contract that forces it — but that’s an unusual step the court isn’t fond of taking.

“Specific performance, under Delaware law, is an extraordinary remedy,” said Robert Penza, a Delaware lawyer with decades of experience before the Chancery Court. “They would only do it if they’re convinced there’s not an adequate remedy at law, such as monetary damages.”

I expect Twitter will try to hold Musk's feet to the fire for a bit and then settle for a $ several billion payout. And Musk will try hard to aim for the $1 billion minimum.
