So, I usually try to "date within my league"

I don't usually approach girls like at all, however, the times that I've done it, often times it didn't go that well in the sense that we were not compatible and ended up not wanting to communicate w each other anymore, be it on their end or mine, it's never really gotten me anywhere. However, I recently tried dating "up", so girls who I think are outside of my league and it worked! Wtf is the explanation for that?

Like, I thought if these group of people, I'm talking about looks exclusively, usually don't seem to be into me that much why would someone more attractive, also in some cases that seems more financially stable, why would they pay attention to me? And it actually was the other way around, why is that?
