The few games I saw from the UK... I thought they were way more mature then in their previous encounters.

I think Argentina will probably go through to the semis... and I think the UK has the quality and the maturity to meet them there for a shot in the finals.

I won't lie, I was hoping for a Mexico win, but it is a refreshing change to hear an English man be humble and realistic.
I think this world cup has shown that going into a game as favourites means very little. England have a better chance now than when the world cup started.
That being said, I will be identifying as a Norwegian for the foreseeable future.

@22Michelle Oh, I absolutely get it. You didn't even mention the political history, which absolutely matters.

Though the hatred of some Scotland fans does reach an insane level of pettiness. I'm swear some people north of the border want England to lose more than they want Scotland to win!

I guess I'm in a contradictory situation in that I'm a leftwing progressive who is an English nationalist when the football team plays. I don't understand that either TBF. 😎

@Burnley123 The hatred of some is indeed insane. However, having experienced the reaction of English fans during the 1970's - 1980's when Scotland regularly qualified, and England didn't, it goes both ways. That said I"ve always found that both sides usually just have some fun with it for a week at most either side of the game or competition and that's it.

It was an amazing game. I really thought Mexico was going to win.

To top it off, mobs were trying to keep the England team awake, by rioting near their hotel.

Yeah, Mexico had home advantage and a half. They are not one of the best teams in the world, but I think Mexico at the Azteca is one of the toughest fixtures you can have in this WC. To come through that in those circumstances is an achievement.
