most of you won't care but i'm gonna post anyway

my boys (whitecaps fc) beat miami last night in the second leg of the concacaf semis knocking them out 5-1 in aggregate score (messi, suarez and busquets who!?), now we are in the finals and await the outcome of tonights match against 2 mexican teams... we are pretty stoked about it up here and they are the talk of the town...since our crappy hockey team didn't make the playoffs

I'm seeing this late but congrats.

I absolutely get that this is a big deal. The CONCACAF Champions League is the biggest trophy that a North American team can win and the players you mentioned are all A-list names in the world's biggest sport. Messi is still - even now - a formidable football player.

With 30 mls teams and some of them having star 'designated players and with the biggest Mexican teams all having more money.... I would say that this is a very big deal for the Vancouver Whitecaps to get to the final.

I just looked up that the final is against Cruz Azul on June 1st. They are a traditional giant of Mexican football but I hope you guys beat them.

@Burnley123 yeah it should be fun come june 1. but the sad part about it there will be almost no national coverage on it unless one has "onesoccer" which nobody has. i'll have to subscribe to it for a month i guess. same with mls play. appletv has that right (but i do have that and mls season ticket holders get the games for free)

@Burnley123 toronto fc did a few a few years ago. but back in the early days in the nasl the whitecaps won "soccer bowl" back in 1979. those were interesting times when we had players like pele and beckenbauer in the league. but it was teams like the new york cosmos who killed that league because they had all the money to pay players like that.
