Pretty bloody awful, and though there's an outside chance of Champions league qualification via a Europa league win, I'm not very hopeful. And I can't see anything improving any time soon. An overpaid squad with little talent or work ethic, a manager shocked at what he found when he arrived, yet stubbornly refuses to change a system that he admits he doesn't have the players for. Split ownership, on the one hand American businessmen that have put the club massively in debt, with no plan or desire to pay that off. On the other hand a British businessman that doesn't care how staff are treated, claiming the finances are in ruins and redundancies inevitable whilst announcing plans for a new stadium. The club I've supported since the 70's now a laughing stock.
Whisper it, because I don't have the fight to deal with the haters. I am a Man Utd fan.
As a Burnley fan, I'm pretty pleased with promotion. It's objective achieved for Scot Parker. The defense has been ridiculous and they've been very consistent.
However, the Premiership is so strong now that it's going to be tough to stay up. Our attack needs reinforcing and captain Josh Brownhill is out of contract.
good question....my boys are number one in mls after 9 matches. we just beat miami and messi in the first leg (semis) of concacaf cup 2-0 and play second leg there next week. we had to beat a couple of good mexican teams to get there..... big shoutout to our new coach jesper sorensen...and we've done this without one of our best players and captain ryan gauld who has been out with a knee injury almost the entire season
@beermeplease Congrats. The MLS has a long period of losing to Mexican teams but there no seems little difference. I'm sure LIGA MX fans are not taking that well.
Celtic have done pretty well this year. The league and domestic trophies were always very likely but the highlight was getting to the playoff round in the Champions league and really giving Bayern Munich a go.
I haven't enjoyed a European campaign as much as that since the win over Barcelona in 2012.
Ange has also been found out in the Premiership. He was great for Celtoc, but just didn't know how to adapt. Much like Biesla at Leeds. The Premiership has superb foreign coaches, and if there is a flaw in your game plan, it gets exploited ruthlessly.
Come to mention it, Kompany will probably win the Bundesliga, but even they struggled in Europe against the elite teams, with respect to Celtic who are Premiership standard.
@Burnley123 I felt bad for Ange initially. I wanted him to succeed after doing so well with us. But he's too stubborn. He doesn't have the team to play the football he wants to play. He's in a hole that he's dug for himself. Even if tottenham win the europa league, there will still be many people calling for him to go.
Biesla is a great example too. Everyone was so full of praise for him at the beginning because of the exciting attacking football. That's all good and well, but it loses its shine when you take a few batterings from teams that know how to exploit your weaknesses.
Yeah I don't think much of Kompany either. The only praise I have for him is that he hasn't failed to win the league like they did last season. They haven't covered themselves in glory with some of their champions league performances.
@SaorUladh I don't want to be too harsh on Kompany because (like Ange) he is good at what he does. We got over a hundred points in the Championship in that first season. It was statistically one of the best seasons ever by any side in that league, and nobody could get the ball off us. It wasn't all his fault we got relegated. We lost two excellent loan players (Tella and Madsen, now at Leverkusen and Villa, respectively). The recruitment department also did a poor job in that window, but few Burnley fans were sad to see Kompany go. The players were also pissed off with him too, Some key players from the title winning team were never given a chance and those that did got sick of his constant bollockings as he blamed them for the situation.
For our situation, Parker is a better fit. By all accounts, he is really hardworking and a nice guy. We had doubts as to whether a London boy would care much about Burnley, but he knows this is his last chance to make it as a Premier League manager, and his energy motivates the players.
I know Celtic fans have a love-hate relationship with Rogers, but it does seem to be working. At every club he's been at, he's done a good job for the first 2-3 years. Who knows, you might see eventually see Ange back at Celtic Park?
Brighton, let themselves down recently..could have been a top 6 finish, but now on the fringes of finishing outside the top 10..which all considering the size of the team, and our past, the top half of the premier league,I'm still pretty pleased. See you guys next season!...
Godawful. A Coach desperately trying to play a system he doesn't have the players for and a Chairman refusing point blank to break his self-imposed transfer budget for.
@Burnley123 The Manager/Coach's job is a thankless task at Tottenham.
It makes no sense to me why you'd spend effort; time and energy sourcing young talent; loan it to endless lower league clubs so they gain experience; get them back to make half a dozen appearances on the subs bench only to then sell them to Port Vale and the likes for a small profit and then suggest it's 'good business for the club'.
All that while the first team, some with big egos, fail to perform with any consistency.
@Burnley123 Levy sacked Pocchetino having taken them to a Champions league final when Pocchetino HIMSELF told Levy THAT was the time to sell that team (as they were at the height of their abilities) and re-invest the money in 'upgrades'.
@Burnley123 I'm not sure about Potter. Ask me after pre season and the summer window. Several players just not good enough, a few injuries, poor support and vile useless owners.
@Burnley123 I think most of it has been badly spent. They don't give the managers long, three this season not counting any caretakers. I think relegation next weekend is a very real possibility.
