Oh it's always the same old argument.
Premier League clubs buy endless foreign players because it's a sales avenue in the countries they're from.
A chance to sell replica shirts at inflated prices; encourage advertisers for sponsorship deals etc.
Bring more money into a club by association.
Following this model British clubs don't develop homegrown talent.
Many reasons/excuses for that. Chief among them nobody abroad wants to buy British players (unless they're clearly exceptional) often because foreign fanbases often find something to dislike, even if it's not logical.
