Fifteen minutes gone, one nil to the Netherlands

The Dutch are soaking up American pressure, pulling them out of formation and hitting on the counter. The USA have great energy but so far lack guile and ingenuity.
Early days yet, though.

Soccer is the 5 - 7 most popular sport in USA, its no surprise they aren't world champs at it, against countries that dont play football, basketball, or baseball very well.

@checkoutanytime Different cultures; it's good to see these new football countries at the world cup. Qatar, Saudi, USA, Japan - all relatively recent graduates to football. They'll learn with experience and get better. Then they might take up Rugby and cricket as well- and become true sporting nations,- and keep their own national sports of course.

@LizOwen if they remove the acting from soccer, it might be more enjoyable to watch, probably not though, its got to be the most boring sport to watch a full match of.

@checkoutanytime Each to their own. I think football is the most popular spectator sport in the world. Personally I agree with your point about play acting.
I tried to watch American football when I lived in the USA and found it tedious, while baseball is just big boys in pyjamas playing rounders.
We are all products of our sporting environments, I suppose.

@checkoutanytime One second they're dying, the next Olympic sprinters. I'd book them all for diving.
