@monte3 It's hard to explain.
Benzema was offside positionally. That doesn't matter if a Liverpool man plays the ball to him. A deflection would still mean Benzema is offside because there is no deliberate Liverpool action and it still counts as Benzema being offside from a Madrid pass.
So the debate is about whether it's a deflected pass by the Madrid player (goal disallowed for offside) or whether it was a miss-hit sliding clearance by Liverpool that got the ball to Benzema (legal goal).
The incident was neither and both. It's such a tough call.
