Seems like a strange time of the season to sack him. I'd be very surprised if a new manager makes any difference. Is anyone lined up to take over?

@SW-User Our American owner has lined up Ted Laslo.

@Burnley123 Could be worse, Sam Allardyce is the bookies favourite.

I'm sure Dyche will have lots of Championship clubs interested.

@SW-User We are not having a good season but it's not his fault.

Years of underinvestment in the team left us with an aging and stagnant squad that is not up to Premiership standard. Our midfield is the weakest in the league and wouldn't be great in the Championship.

He's over achieved for years and (to state the obvious) I don't see who we could get who is as good, let alone better.

@Burnley123 It's getting harder to compete in the Premier League without lots of money. I think the days of getting a mid table finish through hard work and good organisation are maybe gone.

You need to get back up quickly. Stoke have just had to sell the ground to stay within financial fair play rules.

@SW-User I'm sorry to hear that. Troubled times await.

Tbh I do maybe think that the Dyche, Pullis-Alladyce days are done. At the highest level, that style of play is on the way out. We were playing the ball on the deck more this season.

But still ...

@Burnley123 Still possible to stay up, but I think it's probably unlikely

@SW-User Indeed.

@Burnley123 I can't imagine an English top flight without Everton, though I do remember Man Utd getting relegated. Leeds goal difference suggests they should be in the bottom three and they have a tricky looking set of games left.

@SW-User 75% that the current bottom three go down. Leed's attack and Everton's home form will get them enough points. They are bad but there are three worst teams.

@Burnley123 I agree

@Burnley123 Like I said (all along) Burnley was right to sack Dyche and we will probably stay up.

@Burnley123 It's looking a lot more likely than a couple of weeks ago.

I have a theory that Burnley owners wanted to get rid of Dyche at end of season, but were worried they might stay up and they wouldn't be able to.

@SW-User It's quite possible. The new owner is a big believer in the passing game being the way forward. The interim coach has changed the tactics to move us higher up the pitch and keep the ball on the floor. Also the owners are into analytic recruitment. From that perspective, Europe offers much better value than the Championship (where Dyche likes to recruit).

It's likely the owners suggested Dyche did these things and he refused.

It's not over yet but Everton have a tough fixture list. One more win might do it and two definitely will.
