Ten Hag has gone! Not overly surprised, but still a little out of the blue.

He couldn't do anything to fix the problems. It's debatable whether any manager can at the moment, but he definitely couldn't. He couldn't even steady the ship. I mean, at least get the players working hard and being hard to beat. Sign, or promote, players who will look like they care and get rid of the ones who don't. Rashford should be sold now, Anthony also and probably Bruno too. Heart and commitment should be extremely high up on the list of attributes for new players. No more sulks or part timers.

@BadAssTunaBotHoe Agreed. Recruitment has been shambolic over a long period. If they were fourth or fifth in the league, it wouldn't be the coaches fault. They are less than the sum of their parts though and that is down to him.

I can sense a lot of Man Utd fans hoping the new manager isn't Gareth Southgate

@Mesthartiya It's a tough act to follow, but they should maybe remember how long it took him to start winning things
@Lugwho Yup. That's the problem with football today. You can buy players, but you can't buy time.

It needed to happen but the timing seems weird.

Now that Tuchel has the England job, there isn't an obvious contender.
Rúben Amorim (of Sporting) is seen as a bit of a rising star but I am not sure whether he'd be a good fit.
@Burnley123 Man Utd in general seem to struggle to find a manager who is a "good fit". You could argue that, apart from Sir Matt Busby and Alex Ferguson, no-one has fitted.

@Mesthartiya Especially on recent years!

Thomas Frank and Amorin are the favourites btw.
