@Burnley123 Not really Burnley, I've been watching Belgium when they went to Roemenia with 1 fan. It was so bad that year, that no one wanted to broadcast the games anymore. So the flemish governement intervened and it was broadcasted on our national broadcasting service. Except for the tournaments themselves, a lot is on the commercial channels. I'm also a kanarie supporter... If it's bad, it's bad. It's better not to be in denial about it.

I think the golden generation thing is more of an issue with smaller nations. The bigger countries are always going to have at least a decent level of players, as they should. It's especially true of France and Brasil, the two nations who consistently produce the most top-level players.

@Kwek00 Your country revolutionised its player development set-up after Euro 2000 and that really helped a lot. I don't think you will be that bad again for a long time. You might be SwitzerlandAustria level but that is the floor.

@Burnley123 We'll see... we still have some nice players in the pipeline. But we need some time to build a team. At the moment, we don't have a team that dares to take risks, and we need to rotate. And some players are just under performing. I honestly think we are going to get pawned against croatia, but I hope they prove me wrong. And if we are really honest, we should have been out already. Because Canada lost, because we had a flash of brilliance. But we played a way worst game.

@Burnley123 Yeah Brazil definitely I don't even know how they manage it tbh, France like Spain they kinda were always under achievers until quite recently but I know what mean though certain nations just seem to produce top teams that are always there or there about not like they just vanish off the world stage ever.

@Kwek00 Even De Bruyne has been bad, which is surprising. You do have some good prospects but are leaving them on the bench and staring with the oldest team possible. I think Croatia has got that balance right TBF.

@Burnley123 I don't agree with Martinez... I've not agreed with him since the campaign for the last Euros. But yeah, what can you do. And yes, De Bruyne is one of those players that is under performing. I also think this team is not hanging together anymore. I think there was too much confidence in old class. And I think croatia is going to beat the shit out of us 😅

@Kwek00 On current form, Croatia will win. Marinez should take risks and throw a couple of youngsters in to give the side some energy.

England is in a different place but we have issues too. Phil Foden has been on great form for Man City but Southgate doesn't rust him. He played well today but I don't know what Southgate will do. ATM we are playing average and I'm not sure we have it in us to beat one of the best teams. It's frustrating.

If we are comming home, it's totally according to what was possible. Because Belgium has just been fucking around lately.

@Burnley123 You better watch out with Senegal. Because if the UK underestimates them, they are going down.

... I think the Netherlands actually have a big risk of going out in the next round against the US. But the United States biggest issue is that their players aren't ready to play their best game for 90 minutes long. In two games (the first and today) they fell appart in the 2nd half.

Yes, their pressing intensity is world-class for the first 60 minutes. The Netherlands have played crap but topped the group because of their cutting edge (called Gakpo 😜). It's the opposite strengths and weaknesses of the US team, who have a superbly athletic midfield but a mediocre front-three. I know Pulusic scored today and he's decent but he is not the world-class forward that he once had the potential to be. Their defence gives teams a chance too.

So, I would expect the US team to have more possession and shots but I can also see the dutch very narrowly winning that one. I hope I'm wrong tbh.
