I am just happy that my country finally qualified and we have a good team that can compete against the very best. I hope they will do well!! Go Canada Go.

@caesar7 It's absolutely a big deal for Canada. I'm glad they qualified. I expect them to be competitive. A good result would be getting out of the group.

They have an English coach too

@Burnley123 Yes they have and yes, at least the first round.

@caesar7 It won't be easy. The WC is a new level for Canada. They have the mark of an overachiever though: like Ireland teams in years gone by.

@Burnley123 I don't expect them to perform any miracles but I do hope that they are competitive and that the scoring is close. Just them being there is good enough for me and I am sure many fans throughout Canada would agree.

@caesar7 Given that it's a Ice Hockey country and given all previous performances, winning the CONCACAF group ahead of Mexico and the US was massively impressive.

I think the game's rise in your country is due to having three MLS teams. For the last decade or so, young Canadian players have had access to professional standard coaching academies and you are now seeing the results.

@Burnley123 Precisely.....and it is getting very popular here. Many families encourage their kids to join an association or club. It is one of the cheaper sports to get them involved in. Hockey is an aristocratic sport nowadays. It is not affordable ...not like it used to be.
