Italy were on a 33 match unbeaten run going into the final, so only over patriotic English fans should have been confident of a win. Combine that with their dreadful penalty record, and it's hard to win major competitions. They also weren't helped by the ref - Italy should have had a man sent off

@BeefySenpie Chiellini's grab was potentially a red, not sure getting a red that late in the game would've necessarily changed the outcome anyway. Guess it somewhat "compensated" with the ref-help that awarded the eng. a penalty in the semifinals.

@Elessar I think it was a stamp by Jorginho that I was referring to. I'll watch the replay today. 3am is an annoying time 😡 The pen in the semi was soft, but there was contact making it a grey area really

@BeefySenpie I think I've got what you meant, but even that one was pretty late in the game if I remember correctly. In any case at that point our best player (Chiesa) was out, with or without Jorginho or Chiellini the outcome wouldn't have necessarily been different. Considering also that Jorge f*cked up his pen shot..
