Smoking assignment

Hello! I'm doing an interview assignment on smoking for health class, and I was wondering if any current or past smokers could answer any of the questions below. Anything used will be anonymous so no need to worry about that! Thank you :))

1. What age did you start smoking?

2. Why did you start smoking?

3. Have you tried to quit smoking for any period of time? How hard was it to quit?

4. When you haven’t had a cigarette, how do you feel? Emotions, reactions?

5. If someone handed you $19,843.20 what would you do with it? The average cost of a pack of cigarettes in PA is $9.54. If you smoke 2 packs a week for a full year do you know the yearly cost for your habit? $992.16. If you smoke for 20 years you will spend about $19,843.20 on cigarettes. How do you feel about that?

1. I started smoking at 13 years old.
2. I had easy access to multiple packs per week in my Grandparents closet that I would steal, and supply all of my friends at school.
3. I quit when I was 19 when I first realized that I was Schizophrenic by counting to 1000, and having the support of a friend over the phone saying cigarettes are gross and yucky when having a strong craving, it helped. I had quit for 6 months, but started back up again because my fiance continued to smoke and we would go out for a few beers after each baseball game and I felt like having a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other was the way to go!
4. Even as a full grown adult, I've had nic fits where I've beggedand pleaded for a cigarette, the anxiety is unbearable in my chest and mind...Like a little girl I've cried!
5. the average pack of cheap smokes here in Alberta Canada is $17.80! and I smoke a pack a day! I would invest that money into crypto! And save for retirement! It would be a huge relief to have that kind of extra money saved!

1. 14yrs old
2. I was always fascinated with it because my grandparents smoked and I spent a lot of time with them.
3. I tried quitting at various points but never lasted more than a week without going back to smoking. I finally quit after 27yrs by switching to vaping.
4. When I hadn't had a cigarette for a while I felt stressed and irritable. I also was less able to solve problems.
5. When I started smoking in England the cost was about £2.01 per pack of 20. That would have been about $3. The cost when I quit was more like £9 per pack of 20 so that would have been about $11 to $12. My smoking levels varied from probably a pack a week when I started to 2 packs a day at the most. So it's hard to estimate the full cost but obviously it would be a lot. If I was handed that money now I'd probably spend it on a vacation.

1. What age did you start smoking? Around 12 years old.

2. Why did you start smoking? 'Cos my friends did, and most of my family smoke.

3. Have you tried to quit smoking for any period of time? How hard was it to quit? No. I enjoy smoking.

4. When you haven’t had a cigarette, how do you feel? Emotions, reactions? I don't crave cigarettes. I enjoy them but don't feel any real emotion if I haven't had one.

5. If someone handed you $19,843.20 what would you do with it? The average cost of a pack of cigarettes in PA is $9.54. Wow, that's a lot, but it still wouldn't stop me from smoking.

I started smoking my senior year of college?

Why? The people I hung out with smoked.

I quit after I went home from school. Probably a year. Then I smoked my friend's cigarettes one night. Got hooked again. Smoked for maybe 5 more years but three of those years were 1-2 a day at work.

Honestly, quitting something is easier than you think when you're willing to fight through the withdrawal. In my opinion, you have to turn into the withdrawal hard. I just quit coffee again and the fog comes back for days to convince you to return.

When you're addicted to something, money doesn't matter that much. That's the worst part of addiction... you have to feed it right? No matter the cost.

2. Because my fiance said I wasn't allowed to. I broke up with him and married cigarettes.
3. I tried numerous times to quit but only managed while I was pregnant. Started right back up after my daughter's birth. I changed to vaping and quit cigarettes. Every few months I lower the nicotine content. Even with the potential harm from vaping I feel immensely better.
4. Intense anxiety. Lost.
5. I know - but then I wouldn't have had it all at once and $10 dollarses just waft away.

1. What age did you start smoking? -14
2. Why did you start smoking? - I was being punished and grounded for doing it when I was, in fact, not smoking. My cousin just burned a piece of furniture and didn't want to take the blame so he sold me out.
