Lungs don't like smoke of any kind, there is nothing safe to smoke at all ... it would eliminate at least one risk (but not all) by ingesting it another way.
The tobacco corporates are actually trying to get in on the cannabis business now, they don't give a damn what they sell you, as long as you buy; if they gave a damn about anyone, they wouldn't exist.
Since it has been illegal for so long genuine scientific research into the health effects of cannabis (ingested in ways other than smoking) is still relatively limited, but not completely non-existent (I'll give you an example link below to some recent research into its negative effects on the cardiovascular system, whether smoked or eaten). That will be the only information of any value. Anecdotes will always bend reality to rationalize a preference, and gloss over any unflattering details.

And aside from the body, it's still not a great plant for the environment, particularly outside of its native range (central and south Asia). Of course, the people who supply you don't give AF about that either, or they'd help cannabis aficionados find better hobbies. At the end of the day, over thousands of years, the human species has not advanced beyond collective narcissism though, so people are going to get what they want, regardless of its effects on anyone or anything else.
