TIBSOVO is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with an isocitrate dehydrogenase-1 (IDH1) mutation with:
acute myeloid leukemia (AML): with newly diagnosed AML treated in combination with azacitidine or alone who are 75 years or older or who have health problems that prevent the use of certain chemotherapy treatments when the disease has come back or has not improved after previous treatment(s)
myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS): when the disease has come back or has not improved after previous treatment(s)
bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma): with bile duct cancer that has spread and who have already received previous treatment(s)
Wow! My mother had CML and the drug was $7500 per month after Medicare paid its portion. Her insurance paid much of the rest, but she qualified for low income help from PSI, so it cost her nothing.
When the hep c cure came out, my dad was lucky enough to be covered by his insurance for it. But without insurance I'm pretty sure like on pill was over 100 grand. Something ridiculous like that anyway. Terrible for people that need it but don't have the means.
