We have something in common, I also hate meth. I think it's time we start holding junkies accountable for the harm they do to innocent people.

@HobNoblin You know that’s kinda messed up attitude. Apparently you don’t have a clue about addiction.

@Silverlady I sure do, I see the damage junkies do to innocent people all the time. I've had to deal with them myself. I'm kind of sick of it.

@HobNoblin You don’t know anything about addiction.

That's a tough road. I hope your sister has a moment of clarity and applies the brakes before things get too spun out of control.
I haven't had a hit in 19 years and just reading this post brought up the taste, smell and tingles that that stuff used to bring...the human brain is odd like that.
In the meantime, stay strong and keep modeling healthy behavior that will help heal your family-some lucky ones do recover.

That's terrible. Very sorry to her it.
I can't imagine anyone who has seen what meth addiction does to a person both mentally and physically ever going near the stuff.
I had a nephew who got on it once. I talked to him about it. He said it reprograms your brain and it doesn't ever go back to the way it was. I would never touch it.

@MoveAlong I thought the same way.

Wouldn't your sister be near your own age?
There's a point in life where you must become your own person and responsible for your own actions.
I don't like any drugs. Yet I would never consider attempting to control my far older siblings lives.
They are responsible for themselves.

@Silverlady You are not going to change her is my point.
The time to had done so would have been when she was eight years old.
I truly stayed away from drugs because of my father taught me what was happening with my mother, at a young age.
She was an alcoholic! For the rest of her whole life!

@DeWayfarer Addiction runs in our family. Her daughter died from an OD. Our dad was an alcoholic.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Silverlady There's not much you can do. Just love her as best as you can.
BTW I took care of both parents until they died. You have to look beyond the problem, to just take care of them.

Clearly you understand the situation here. Your first duty is to yourself not to allow this to harm you...You know you cant enable her. And you know she wont quit this until she is ready, which usually means rock bottom.. So keep her at arms length or more. And only offer any help you are willing to when she is ready to accept it..
Your first duty is to yourself..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman thank you. At first I allowed it to upset me. Crying and thinking of the past. But with help I let it go. I’m a different person. I just hope she will get better soon.

What annoys me is, these people make themselves sick, whilst there are people out there that are sick, and just wish to be well,

70’s? Smoking meth ? I think all drugs should be legal to people over a certain age like 70
Silverlady · 70-79, F
@AthrillatheHunt She’s not 70. Can you imagine 70 years old people getting high! Might make life interesting!
Lostpoet · M
