Isn't this just a new plateau? A decade from now there'll be another group who feel they've been short-changed (some, justifiably po'd) and will demand action. Then those people will be challenged by a federation of Luddites and ultra-conservatives - both or more sides armed with alternative facts...

Yep. Multiply that by all the different societies on Earth... not everything mildly off-putting (but to those who are off-put it's the end of the world! ) occurs in the U.S. for example...
