Cold Showers as a Punishment
As a kid or teen, my dad used to put me under a cold shower when I got angry about something. It was his way of teaching me that throwing fits does not get a kid or teen what they want.

@YMITheWayIM yes especially if he was particularly mad at me and left me under the cold water for 10 minutes or more. He used to say, "You'll stay in there until you've cooled off and you're ready to say sorry and mean it."
