What’s good for minimizing after surgery scars?

I’m getting major surgery next month. The cut will be from the top of the stomach going all the way down to my lower abdomen.

My mother swears by cocoa butter and carbonated Vaseline. That's what she tracked down and religiously slathered on my sister's scar after she had abdominal surgery and nowadays you don't know she had the surgery unless she tells you b/c the scar is so faded.
