Oof that sounds major.
Part of this is just legitimately talk with the surgeon for advice and make sure you've got prescriptions for the medical-grade stuff for scar reduction. I think silicon gel is the standard stuff, as well as some sort of steroidal cream. Good luck and I hope the surgery improves your quality of life.

@CountScrofula thank you 🙏🏽 I hope it goes well. This is my first and hopefully last major surgery. I want to get it over with so I can feel better and more myself

I've heard an oil and lotion vitamine e too also you don't want to move.. like seriously restrict movements even when you feel better and you can do more. I would honestly consider a brace or something that forces you not to twist and turn and bend, because that is going to make the scar much bigger if you do. This is something they tell women who get breast augmentation or face-lifts, all the time. movement = stretching out the wound and stretching out the would = a larger scar.

@Coppercoil damn, I had no idea. Thanks for the info, Coppey

@Harlow I got your back girl.. then after you feel good enough, jump on my back and point at stuff and I'll be your human, do everything for you, vehicle. Until you've totally finished healing. Ahhh.. who am I kidding.. I'll do that forever for you if you like it enough. ☺️

My mother swears by cocoa butter and carbonated Vaseline. That's what she tracked down and religiously slathered on my sister's scar after she had abdominal surgery and nowadays you don't know she had the surgery unless she tells you b/c the scar is so faded.

silicone scar sheets. Google them - many times they are advertised for C-Sections - CVS sells various shapes and sizes....
Let me know if you have trouble finding something - I had 2 - 8 inch scars to deal with...
Also, no fancy stuff....regular Vaseline daily....

You can have microdermabrasions done at spas. I’ve had burns and scars that were significantly lightened having them done.
Hardcastle · M
@MorbidCynic talk to your doctor about it , they know best
MorbidCynic · F
@Hardcastle why are you replying to me?

@MorbidCynic no reason

Vitamin E oil capsules... Open the capsules and apply the oil to the scar tissue daily...

I have used mederma before for a scar.
I am not sure how effective that would work with a longer one.

Take a vitamin C supplement. It helps your body boost natural collagen production.

@QueenOfTheNerds thank you, I definitely will 🙏🏽

@Harlow I recently had some cancer surgery and there was skin removal/ replacement. The doctors told me what steps to take. I think that’s your most prudent path.
