I'm diagnosed by my doctor with PTSD and GAD while me and my therapist knows it's CPTSD. Not GAD at all.

But my doctor is a bit... Behind. He be the type to say he was depressed then got a job then everything was solved and now think every single patient has the same circumstances and abilities as him and can just stop be depressed...

He just put GAD because I said I have anxiety. It's a lazy diagnostic.

@Queendragonfly yep! I think psychiatrist unless you are often seeing them like I have in the past with mine because of unstablized at the time with suicide attempts are the ones who usually get to know your symptoms on the other hand psychiatrist are usually seen only once every 3 or 4 months so most of them don’t really get to view your symptoms but mind did because of how often in the past I needed to add or adjust my medications. Yes I would also agree with your therapist since I take it you see them about once a week like I do mine too as they typically get to see us more and are symptoms plus get to know us more.

@JaneCas yes. Psychiatrists are only educated in medical treatment so it's a bit weird that they are the one deciding the diagnosis since like you say, they don't spend enough time with a patient to understand their situation.

My doctor just speed bond "WE'RE YOU ABUSED BY * WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD?"

"DO YOU SELF HARM ?"

"DO YOU FIND YOURSELF ATTRACTIVE?"

"WHAT'S YOUR GOALS?"

but I dissociated during some questions he went on in that was very private and he took it straight from my medical journals and he didn't even understand what dissociation was. I had to explain to him what happened after, all he did was shout and snap with his fingers to get me back which just made me dissociate even more

Prick.
