We're roughly the same age, been single for 3 years as well after 27 years of marriage,I left, not for anyone else,I knew the marriage would end one day,for many years it was a miserable existence, life does go on,slowly, naturally your nervous, even though I left and it wasn't a happy marriage i still have days we're i say" what if I'd been stronger, not a push over", but at the end of the day its matter less.

@decka1965: I still go out with friends occasionally. Being sociable is beneficial, never any good to be an ol' stop-at-home!

THAT SUCKS, AND HURTS. really. sorry you had to go through that. the only comfort is knowing that he has to live with himself, and you dont. i hope you find something or someone here

He's happily settled now with the person he left me for. But it's good to know of others online who have been through similar experiences and learn how they coped. Life moves on. ☺

@Petitefleur: my wife left me for another woman while my father was dying of cancer. I went in to a black hole i never thought i would get out of. i could not see a future. but now i feel sorry for her. i created a whole new life that is not a reaction to her or defined by how she has more than me. plus, i believe in karma.

@innocentfun4u: Hello,be nice to think your right about this karma thing,my ex didn't leave me for anyone else,I left her after years of being controlled, living in a unloving relationship, forgetting who you are and all respect for yourself, when my father was dying of cancer in hospital,I used to ask permission to visit him to be told I could pop in for a couple of hours on a Sunday night, that was just one thing in a long list of many, after leaving she couldn't control me so she controlled the kids turning them against me,we've never spoken for 2 years. How as this left me,I'm jovial, fun to be around, women enjoy my company but I'm the biggest commitment phobia on gods earth, give up my independence,no way, I wish I wasn't so down on love but it would be hard to take the chance.

Petitefleur · 61-69, F

Petitefleur · 61-69, F
I can't complain. I have a small grandson who lives in the US and I visit often.
@Petitefleur: You can build up a new life, and when looking back, you think, I have it better now!
Ouch. I hope she ruins his life.
Petitefleur · 61-69, F
