woman i was talking to for years on facebook has unfriended me

a woman i was interested in & who i thought was interested in me...we were messaging each other for years, nice messages, i thought it would lead to something like a relationship......3 weeks ago this woman asked for a recent picture of myself.....so i sent her a recent picture in the private messages...then, all of a sudden, she stops responding to my private messages...after she saw the photo........i messaged her twice after she had seen the picture asking if she's okay, but she never responded....now, i have just discovered she has unfriended me on facebook???

wtf, why??! what did i do wrong? i feel very devastated as i thought it was going to lead to something and now i feel ultimate rejection.

she was in her 50s and i'm in my mid 40s....how can i get over this situation?

I think it’s important for everyone to make their peace with the reality that we can’t be everybody’s type and that’s OK. people are allowed to not be interested in us. We are allowed to not be interested in other people and nobody owes anybody an explanation. It also sounds like a lot of the connection was built up in your head. Sure, you’d correspond on Facebook from time to time and years went by, but that doesn’t mean you really knew them. You never had a chance to make any memories with them in real life for them to demonstrate how they really are in all kinds of weather. If you’re looking for a relationship you don’t find it by talking to people online for years. you move on by realizing maybe this was a wake up call that you need to get out there and start living so you can meet someone in real life you can connect to in a more deep way.

Sounds like she's shallow, I'm sorry 😔

You must have said things she didn’t like.
