I'm Afraid That I'll Be Single Forever

The guy I've been dating for the past four months broke up with me last weekend. He is conflicted about many things; past relationships, he wants to socialize more so he can quit thinking over things so much, he was conflicted about whether or not I would be a good match for him (obviously because he broke the relationship off) and he says all he wants to do is work out. Basically he is just very conflicted inside his head and I tried not to take it too personally when he broke it off, although I'm sad about it and miss dating him a little bit. In another way it was a little bit of a relief because he seemed so needy and wanted me to stay with all the time. He said he enjoyed my company but also having me spend the night kept him from lying awake and obsessing over things. I honestly think he needs to see a therapist and talk all these conflicts out. I am lonely though and afraid I'll never meet anyone out there for me. I've tried dating sites and all the men I went out with wanted were one night stands.

There are tons of married women on here complaining about their relationships so marriage is certainly no fix all. We have entered the disposable generation, everything is expendable and that includes people. If TVs break it is cheaper to just get a new one and we view relationships the same way. I have been married 44 years but I am the exception these days and not the rule. There is a quote that says "A perfect marriage is two imperfect people, who refuse to give up." A lot of truth there. Too many believe the hype they see in movies. Things don't always go smoothly and there will certainly be issues.

@Cloud7593: We have all been conditioned by the times in which we live. I call it the TV generation, we see all problems have a solution in the confines of an hour.

Interesting. A lady on here told me basically the same thing. She said TV has caused people to have a 5 yr. old mentality. It encourages people to think in certain limited ways.

@Cloud7593: It gives us a skewed image of life

I was married after only dating her for a couple of months. It seemed rather rushed at the time because we barely knew each other. Once the divorce was finalized I felt a sense of peace but also had that hole where I missed her. I was needy, I was obsessed but it took a lot of therapy and self discovery to get me where I am at today. If you ever need someone to listen, or a friend, feel free to pm me anytime. My door is open because I can totally relate to what you are going through

Thanks. I appreciate your attention. 😘 I still miss him a good bit but at the same time dating him could be a little stressful

Nope. Never. Been proposed to but that's as far as it ever went

@melmouthfulls: That's farther than I've gotten.

Eh....none of them were thought out or planned at all no date, no ring...nothing. I said yes each time but thank God none of it worked out.

In search of a decent guy sweetie you may have to lower your standards, lol.
