I LOVE keeping expensive old things if they are good value. "If something ain't broke, don't fix it," and if it is broke, fix it! But when you CANNOT fix it anymore because you can't buy parts, then you have no choice but to buy a NEW thing, which is often not as good quality as the old thing. Our society loves built-in obsolescence!
