@saragoodtimes yeah after old Sam Walton died the family got so greedy they changed the way they ran things. Heard so many older employees say that when I worked there over 10 years ago. When Sam Walton was alive the clothing on clearance would be set out and every week they’d lower the price of each item by $1 till it sold. Was common to see an item with 4 or 5 layers of price stickers. They took out the snack bars and started contracting with restaurants, I hated everyone one of those restaurants. The good old days you could buy a pretzel or nachos and not spend much money. I could rest halfway between my shopping and get something to eat till I got home to fix dinner. They cut employees work weeks to 34 hours or less too. They have also took about employee’s quarterly bonuses recently.
@cherokeepatti just look at the price at fast food restaurants. a family living paycheck to paycheck can't afford them anymore

@saragoodtimes I haven’t eaten it in years and it’s rare that I even stop for the boy to get some. Good thing he likes my cooking. I try to fix things he likes.
@cherokeepatti it's been a while but stopped at a McDonalds and an extra value meal was over 10 dollars for just me. how does a family of four afford that. know what we pay when we go to a nice restaurant not to mention if it's a special occasion and we request the private dining room

@saragoodtimes I refuse to go to McDonald’s at all, besides the food being unhealthy and tasting like crap their meat is suspect as hell…literally. The Oklahoma City meat packing plant here tested the meats several years ago and found human DNA in it and also horse DNA. It made the local news. I really don’t want any fast food now. I did eat some air-fried waffle potatoes at Chick-Fil-A couple times though. Cost about as much as a 5-pound bag of potatoes so no more of that.
@cherokeepatti my go to now is lunch at the cafe while shopping the mall. have never been served a bad meal there

@saragoodtimes I haven’t went out for lunch in a very long time. Used to go to a little Chinese restaurant about a mile from here. They have lunch specials and haven’t raised their prices in the 20 years they’ve been open. Haven’t even gone there.
@cherokeepatti here Chinese food is still a good deal. do delivery when one of the kids asks for it

@saragoodtimes Lunch special there are still $5…a choice of about 20 entrees, fried rice plus either soup or egg roll plus a canned soda you get from their little refrigerator.

@cherokeepatti Go to Costco. It's hard to beat their $1.50 hot dog combos.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@DallasCowboysFan can’t have wheat bread and I don’t eat hot dogs except for bison dogs I buy at the health food store.
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti I am sorry to hear that.
If you can't get the hot dog combo your life is diminished.
Can you eat Hebrew hot dogs, they are much better than Oscar Mayer.
Why bison dogs, because they are not pork?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@DallasCowboysFan grass fed and no nitrates, MSG, dyes or chemicals in them. They sell them frozen. Have an excellent flavor too but expensive.
