It's a "bonnet" in this country but it does make sense for me to drive in forwards because my car is a hatchback. Though with sliding rear doors I can also load it from the side, and often do.
I added a reversing camera (often built in on more modern cars) to help in tight spaces, including parking at home. I live in a narrow street of terraced houses where parking can often be difficult and finding a space outside your own home, is a gamble for all of we residents there.
