When I just don't care about something but people will accuse me of jealousy so I just act interested.

Just trying to prevent people from projecting their emotions on me. Basically just trying to prevent myself from getting annoyed so I can protect everybody's peace.

@MartinTheFirst yes, like if someone is like "Look what I can do, look who I'm with" etc but I find no interest in it but they feel like I must either admire them or be jealous of them. So I prefer to act like I admire them even though I'm totally indifferent.

@HannibalAteMeOut oh that sucks... You should try to not feel forced to give them the response they want. It's respectable when you're honest with people about who you are. But, I know, that's not playing the social game correctly.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst I'm not really forced, I guess I just predict their reaction to different responses and go with what's more desirable to me at the time. I know being honest is better but some people believe me more when I lie than when I'm honest about these things so 😅

@HannibalAteMeOut Going with what's more desirable to you at the moment is the trait of a compulsive liar, are you a compulsive liar?
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst is it? I didn't know. Maybe I am.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut Yeah it is... Well think about that, it's a common thing for people to fall into, it's usually a phase.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst I feel like I've always been like that though
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut Do you ever feel like you lie about something that you didnt have to lie about?
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst I don't really "have to" lie about anything, I just do it out of politeness or to avoid pointless arguments.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut Is it a conscious decision or does it just come naturally?
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst hmm both I guess
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut A helpful tool that broke me out of it when I realized I was like that, was knowing that I could backtrack the conversation and change the lie to the truth. Like when you lie about a small thing, for example on the scale of what you ate that day, if you catch yourself lying you say "Wait a minute, I actually ate *insert truth of what you ate here*". It kinda reprograms you.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst that's interesting, if it happens to me like that I might use it
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@HannibalAteMeOut Well I'll let you to it then *tips hat*
