Tbh no matter what's being said, the USA's right wing is really mild compared to what's out there for the rest of us.

I mean some of them even support gay rights and are openly irreligious.

I remember just 6 years ago when I was in high school, being an atheist was almost unheard of and only a minority claimed the word "feminist". I'm not even going to talk about the treatment of lgbt+ and immigrants. My chemistry professor called me Bakunin for being open about these issues and questioning very common "jokes" and what not.
And now they act like they are afraid of "cancel culture" and "woke people". We are just getting started. It's just what they thought was "normal" for all their lifetime being questioned now. Imagine living in fear of being yourself for all these years. Like even just for wearing something. I'm still very alert whenever I see men dressed in a more "feminine" way in public transportation, for example. I think what if someone attacks them out of the blue?
Some people think just because someone won't tolerate insults from them and will talk back, they have their freedoms taken away.

It's truly a global issue. I could add a lot more but my first sentence actually beholds it all.

It's not a new wave. Unfortunately. We were there before, and personally I had hoped history had helped us learn the lesson. However, with the lack in education and interest in democracy it seems to matter less.
