Every day I have to choose between taking a bus so full that there's not even space for a needle or walking all the way in the 3pm heat

Same. I take train instead of bus where each compartment carries two times more people than its capacity. And I almost always end up with the super fat guys. Surviving there is an achievement. ☹️
