It's easier when traveling than buying the distilled water and mixing it in a parking lot. If you're adding coolent often enough that a gallon doesnt last you a year or more, you have much bigger problems. Coolent isn't a consumable.

@MethDozer I mix with faucet water and carry a gallon behind the seat all the time. Never had a problem.

@RogueLodyte Depends how loaded your water supply is. The area I'm in nowadays the water from wells is so hard and mineralized I wouldn't dare.
Either way, that's when 50/50 makes sense, when just topping off while traveling to get you were youre going and can get the leak fixed

@MethDozer Yeah, my brother says that in his vehicle, the coolant MUST be full for it to throw any heat, so he has to occasionally top it off.
One would think though, that concentrate would and should cost twice as much or 50/50 only half as much.
