Besides a hunk of wood with crystals embedded into it. The leather strap seems to to keep it from flying out of your hand, as it is very heavy, while possibly hitting something with it??? Is it actually a thing or is it just weirdness?

@Convivial my in-laws bought it at an auction and thought I might want it. I wish I had someone to ask that had been connected with the item. If nothing else, it has some interesting crystals.
