@ViciDraco You summed them up pretty well. It's a "rebellion against capitalism!" by going against the mainstream or something. I don't know, same reason many of them have the newest iphones and outfits that costs $300+.

@thenormalkindofcrazy Probably doing it as a fad, then. I am somewhat of an anti-capitalist and nobody I know in that circle engages in the fake-wealth displays you are suggesting. Good clothes are sometimes an exception, but when they buy those clothes its quality and not branding. And then they keep those good clothes for years and even decades.
