Not a thing imo, but that’s coming from another male who wears them a lot and original men wore tights before women did way back when.

@bluegrasslover Old paintings show tights, or at least something similar to modern leggings, were common especially in the Middle Ages to Renaissance times; in Europe at least.

The earlier ones were usually accompanied by a tunic, a sort of shirt-cum-jacket, with its hem outside and reaching the upper thighs.

Trousers as such - the looser-fitting garment - seemed to start appearing in the 16C or early-17C; and for the wealthy Tudors, were often rather flamboyant. One 17C fashion for men looked like breeches with tight ankles and padded thighs.

So perhaps tight leggings rather than "tights", were definitely male garments for a long time,

For all these centuries, I don't think women wore tights or stockings - or any underwear, usually - under their floor-length skirts.
