I Know You Dont Know Me

Okay. Well, it’s hard for me to even understand myself. The things I do, the stuff I say. It’s all a puzzle. I’m a complex person and part of why I can’t handle a relationship is because I can barely handle myself. However, after a recent talk with a few people, I realized that some somehow know you inside and out and everything about you. Sometimes we see things in people that the person at hand doesn’t see themselves, which is fine. However to claim you know everything about me is a lie. I hold a lot in, I have a dark past, I have things I don’t like to talk about. It’s very difficult finding out who I am and for some to say they know who I am bothers me. Maybe I’m too blind to see the real me, maybe I’m right there for all to see and I just can’t see it. I am just bothered that people are claiming to understand me when I can’t understand myself some days

We all can be complex & all have a past, we all hold things inside, nobody knows anyone completely.
To think too much of yourself on this subject can be fairly narcissistic.
Usually those we deem simple can be the most complex.
And, seriously, at your age, you have plenty more years of experiences to go before bordering on true complexity.

@MsMontgomery I don’t necessarily feel it’s narcissistic to try and figure oneself out but I do understand there’s a fine line. It’s more of a search for myself at this point

@Throger I understand.
But, you have so much more in life to relish, that knowing yourself at this age can be tough. Don’t worry so much about it.
Not many people truly know themselves at your age, myself included.
Enjoy life. Experience life. You’ll figure it out.

@MsMontgomery you’re right! And apologies didn’t mean to come off as rude. I just want to be the best me possible. I had plans years ago of who I wanted to be and after everything happened up in the head it fell apart and I let it control me. Now I want to take my life back and I’m not sure where to start

@Throger No worries.. but, know that Trying to ‘figure it out’ can take years. Therapy is great. But don’t put life on hold. You’ll be old before you know it.

@MsMontgomery I will try not to! Thank you so much for your advice 😊
