do you suppose theres a generational pendulum effect?

between people more or less working so long/hard enough or encounter an early death to people who tap out on working/retire/downgrade their job too early and end up old and sick without the resources to live much over the poverty line... and back and forth?

i suppose it could jump generations... kids seeing how their grand parents live.
