I Am a Thinker

Is there anyone else who thinks that public shaming is mini stoning? 馃

It is another way of taking the law into your own hands.

Calling someone out on bad behaviour is one thing, but just ripping on ppl for no good reason is quite another. I really don't care for vigilante justice, or ganging up on ppl, but if someone's being out of line, that's something else. It's a bit relative, I guess. I've seen ppl get on other's cases for things I though were rather inconsequential.

It is, but if someone did something pretty awful, I really can't feel very sorry for them. On the other hand, I'm not too comfortable when it's done without providing any proof of some offense being committed. Without it, it would be too easy for some vindictive person to smear someone who didn't do anything wrong.
[c=#BF0080]Depends on what it's about.. I've done it a few times on here. [/c]

True. It is so broad and it depends on a lot of circumstances.
[c=#BF0080]I've only did a few and one was this absolutely disgusting pm.. I wanted people to know about this person. One where a guy's profile says he's 18-21 but in a pm confesses to me that he was older but he just put that age so he could talk to younger girls. I wanted the girls to see it. And two were fake profiles that I absolutely had proof of them being deceitful. I'm thinking about doing it again cause I ran into something very disturbing a few mins ago. I only leave them up for a few days.[/c]

I understand why you did it :).I know it helps to create a safer SW.

Getting spanked In public is also bad
SpoiledbratF
I think people that do that need to rethink their strategy. That is not ever cool and I wouldn't associate with someone who thinks it is okay.
SpoiledbratF
I hope not.

Hmmm.

Mini stoning.

Intriguing.

Would you say we have stopped focusing on the physical form.of the body and moved to a form of discipline on the mentalality of the person?

Curious.

In this internet age, online shaming is more likely than physical stoning but it has similar effect. Just my thoughts.
Furiousfrog31-35, M
Sure sure, the ubtwrnet age. .. so much has changed.

Foucault wrote on punishment.

He said we no longer punish the physical body in a demand foe justice, but focus on the human psyche.

You're post seems to reflect that issue.

Just wondering your thoughts

Public shaming under what circumstances?
Autumnbreeze41-45, F
Nothing really specific. It's just my general thought because to many of us, emotional pain is more painful than physical one.
hami109141-45, F
I gotcha, in real life I am not for the public shaming of children that you see in those news articles and videos I think that is wrong and uncalled for. I guess truth but told I am not for the public shaming of anyone, not even on here.

stones fly both privately and publicly
Autumnbreeze41-45, F
Yes, I won't take any sides but it has damaged something precious somewhere.
