Why are people like this?

Have you ever known someone with a dangerous job or lifestyle and you find yourself worrying more for that person than they do themselves? While you sit holding your breath on pins and needles they seem so nonchalant as if they couldn't have just lost their life at any given moment.

Because subjective attachments shouldn't define how we come to value human lives.

Because they believe in the necessity of what they do more than anything else life has to offer.

Because there are worse things than death.

Because they were conditioned to reckless sacrifice for the collective.

Because they have certainties that outweigh any fears.. etc

@AngelUnforgiven I hope you find your peace. I know it's not easy loving someone you know can be taken away from you at any moment. I wish life was simpler.
